The Importance of visiting a Christian Counselor

Updated: Aug 16, 2022

By Ruth Achu

Most struggling Christians prefer Counseling that can integrate their faith in the healing process because they believe God is the author of life. Unfortunately, most professional psychotherapy regimens are not faith-based. As a result, they can not help Christians at the core of where they struggle, producing little or no results and leaving them frustrated, unsatisfied, and discouraged. Given the social isolation, highly mobile society, family, and community life becomes challenged, and social media use is prevalent everywhere, many people are left depressed, anxious, and stressed and have no strategy to cope with these mental health issues. In our counseling sessions, we teach Individuals skills to handle stress symptoms independently. However, if you are not sure you need a counselor, then consider the reasons below:

1. When you find it difficult to calm down, or it isn't easy to regulate your emotions, or you may feel hit by grief and loss, anger, sadness, anxiety

through consulting with a Pastoral counselor, you can learn to identify deeper issues at the root of these feelings.

2. If you notice that your work or child's school performance is declining. For example, bullying can cause emotional and mental challenges. They can affect one's concentration and memory. Pastoral Counseling could help you manage the issue better

3. If you find it challenging to build and maintain relationships. A Christian counselor can give you a faith-based perspective on dealing with relationships and enhance your social skills, which will enable you to feel more comfortable and lessen feelings of inferiority and lack of value

4. If you are grieving. Grieving can be a slow process, especially if you are alone in the grieving process. However, as Christians, God is our comforter and has already noted our griefs. So a Pastoral counselor will provide a comfortable space to openly discuss your emotions and teach faith principles to help you cope with the grief.

5. If you hope to improve certain qualities within yourself but don't know how to, you are experiencing guilt because of Sin. A Pastoral counselor will lead you to a place of forgiveness and repentance. They can help you understand and respond to life issues more constructively! We are here to help you navigate challenges so you can focus on the things that matter most. At Haven of Treasures, we provide culturally sensitive, Christian Counseling for Individuals, Couples, children, and families experiencing any form of crisis. Our Pastoral Counseling center exists to solve this problem effectively. We are not here to replace medical or psychological treatments recommended by healthcare professionals. Our faith-based approach focuses on the work of the Holy Spirit backed up by proven results because we believe some problems come from evil in the world or sinful nature. We believe that with timely, godly counsel, depression, family crisis, losses, anxieties, unresolved grief, suicidal thoughts, addiction, etc., can be addressed, and any crisis threatening anyone will receive lasting healing and restoration.
